  • Upgrading to Tripple Xenon Headlights

    Hello all,

I've had my DS3 about 6 months now and I totally love it. Have been modifying and adding to it to get the features I want and so on.

However since then I have drove past a few DS3s with the newer tripple xenon headlights and they look so god damn nice I pretty much decided I wanted them after the first DS3 I saw go past with them, since then I've seen a few so thought I'd start looking into it, I couldn't find the headlights online new but seen a few on eBay here and there but was first wondering if I would even be able to fit these to my DS3 (I really hope so) I have just the standard headlights of course and a Dstyle plus e hdi 2014 and was hoping if anyone would be able to tell me if the tripple xenon would indeed fit on my car and if they do, how hard would they be to change? Would it just be a matter of removing my existing ones and plugging these in via the same socket? Or is it much more complicated than that?

    Thanks in advance,
    Berch

It is possible to retro fit the new Xenon headlights (Mark.A did it a while back), but that's not the stumbling block. You need to have very deep pockets, as even on eBay, a decent pair will set you back at least a grand and prepare yourself for a huge shock when asking at a dealership!! You could try a breakers yard, but I've seen very very few available and never a matching pair. I also believe the bulbs are quite expensive (as the standard ones on the pre-facelift models are different). So if money is no object, then go for it and I will be eternally jealous, as I really like them too.

EDIT: Have a read of this thread: http://www.ds3club.co.uk/showthread....non-Headlights

      Yep Plug and play essentially.

You'll just need to save up to buy some!

Yeah they are pretty expensive although for how pretty they look, I don't mind the investment, it's my first car and I already treat her like my baby. The most annoying part is trying to find a pair as buying them individually from 2 different people is something I'd rather avoid.

That is really good to know, I was worried that I'd have to fit extra things or buy converters and so on to make them plug in correctly and have everything work like the sweeping indicators etc but if that's not the case that makes me happy indeed.

If price is no problem and you want to invest, why don't you ask Callum in this thread:

          http://www.ds3club.co.uk/showthread....018#post236018

He has listed some good stuff with 15% off for club members. See if he can give you a price on the Xenons.

              Hey,

Thanks for the thread you linked before, looking at Mark's upgrade just makes me want them even more so thanks for that haha . Also thanks for that link to Callum's thread, I shall definitely do that, at how much they cost a discount on those would be outstanding and probably seal the deal for me. I've now messaged him and shall sit on top of my monitor and eagerly await his reply.

I contacted Citroen through there website and was told roughly around £2000 for the headlights but I think I saw in that thread someone said that the Arbury Citroens done them for less but they also said I couldn't fit them myself because they would require extra work, so not sure if this was just to try and get them to do it and charge me more.

              To quote him:

              "Support Representative:
£2000 just for the lights on both sides , but there are specialized are would need ordering and you can not fit them yourself
              Support Representative:
as it needs extra work doing which may push up the price"

However, I shall await Callum's response and go from there.

Thanks a bunch for your help by the way Funky

              Regards,
              Bradley

Hi Berch just a quick question who told you they need extra work.
when we did them in our workshop i believe if i remember correctly it was just plug and play as it doesn't list any other modifications to fit them.
but i will ask the technician that fitted them and find out for you ?

                  Regards
                  Callum

                    Heya,

On my local Citroen dealer website which is Robins & Day, they have a live chat feature on their website and I used that to speak to their spare parts department and was told by the person I was connected to. Not sure if by "work, he meant removing any panels to remove the existing headlights and removing a particular piece of plastic Mark referred to in his post in order for the Xenon headlights to fit properly, but he done it fine and a few others have but any extra information would be highly appreciated.

                    Regards,
                    Bradley

right i have just been told by the ct in the workshop that the plugs of the old wiring are not the same plug for the new headlights. so a new plug is necessary.

but i remember speaking to mark about it as he fitted them himself he said that they were easy to fit so possibly a plug and play wiring adapter maybe available.
i will check with Citroen and see if they do them, if not i will have a cour on the internet and see what i come up with.

Oh darn, that's kind of put a damper on my idea of upgrading. I got a little excited as Mark said in his thread that they were just plug and play so maybe he already had the adapter on his car or got one from somewhere else online, will have a read over his thread to see but thought he said he didn't need to change anything or I misread it.

Thanks VERY much for your help and efforts by the way, they are much appreciated.
