  • Help! Brakes stuck on when wet

Every time it rains or is damp by breaks stick on.
I've just tried to reverse now after the rain and it was revving over 2 and still didn't budge.
    What could this be?

It's pretty normal, handbrake sticks when the car has been sat for a while.

If it's still not moving, don't forget to release the handbrake

I think it's mostly normal, maybe not to that extent. If the car is parked on flat ground you could leave it parked in gear with the handbrake off.

Otherwise, make sure the handbrake is fully disengaged when moving off, and be careful of it possibly lurching when it does unstick. How many miles on the brake discs and pads? Could be something needs replacing but doubt it.

Could also look into wheel covers for when you're going to park it for any length of time.

      p.s. welcome along

Handbrake is off and my car has only done 16000 miles had it from brand new and it's only started doing for the last couple of months. Any normal day it's fine.

Mine stick in the cold and wet weather. It's fairly normal with rear discs. I pull my handbrake on just enough to hold it and then leave it in first. It doesn't prevent it every time but it's not as bad. Is it worse when your car has been standing overnight?

Pretty normal. You get a thin layer of rust on brakes which seems to adhere when damp.

I've had it with other cars

As mentioned - totally normal. On certain days mine has a mega clunk moment!
