Heavy shaking from engine (feels like misfire), Engine management light on!

Jamie suggested HPFP too, and certainly is very knowledgeable! I have called the garage to go ahead with the replacement and they have told me that on start up this morning the timing chain gave excessive noise for the first 15-20 seconds of running which is intermittent.
Is this unrelated? I feel like I don't want to bother Jamie again!

I'd feel a bit cheeky calling to ask him these questions and then asking another garage to do the work.

Timing chain issues aren't uncommon on the THP's.

I did ask if he could have it in, but he is on holiday for the next week! He would definitely be who I will take it to in the future and will be booking a walnut blast, so not to worry!

As mentioned above though, timing chains are another common item to go on the DS3's so I wouldn't be surprised if your mechanic suggests it needs adjusting.

Lovely! I have had the tensioner replaced at around 20k, I will see if they can adjust it for me, but I thought it was hydraulic and 'self' adjusted? Thanks for the quick reply!

Just get the pump sorted for now. I can look at the chain and cam alignments when you bring it for walnutting.
Most thps rattle to some degree especially on cold start.
If it starts to sound like a toy machine gun on overrun all the time then it's time to worry about the chain.
