You do not say if you have a 1.6VTI or 1.6THP but either way Bosh make a compatible spark plug for both engines. So that is a yes you can use them if you want to.

Auto must be VTi right? Did they ever make an auto THP?

The specified plug change interval is 40,000 miles. Changing them at 16,000 will serve no useful purpose.

Except that the car is 4 years old, so I believe it is specified even though not enough miles. Mine had the plugs changed at 4-5 years (don't remember exactly), even though the car (2011) had only done about 30 to 40 000 km. Another thing is is it still any good? Probably not.

Plug changes are specified at 40,000 miles, with no time limits. There's nothing about them that will deteriorate with age.

Yes, in normal conditions it's 60 000 km for plugs. But for rough conditions, it's 40 000 km (like in here). Rough conditions do not cover only weather conditions but driving conditions too, like lots of short trips with a cold engine etc.

I remember my late Mazda had its plug change interval at 120 000 km and they were just fine before that.
