  • Parking Assist System Fault (rear sensors)

I have had a problem with the rear parking system at fault. The service light comes on and a message comes up on the screen
but after that, once reverse gear is engaged nothing appears on the screen whatsoever. However, about a month and a half ago
my car failed the MOT and the rear exhaust needed re-welding. Could it be possible that the garage has burnt one of the cables or moved some of the wires? I also cannot determine which sensor is broken by listening to the ticking.

If nothing happens at all the switch on the reverse gear might have gone. Check if your reverse light works.

If the sensors still work but the screen doesn't do anything, try find the faulty one by getting someone to lie behind/under the car and cover each sensor one by one with their hand, so you can see which one doesn't beep.

Mine does the same. One beep when engaging reverse, service light comes on then message on the display. After that that's all it does. Doesn't beep, doesn't show anything on the screen (is it supposed to?). I'm personally not to worried but it's the wife car. If it's on the car I'd rather it works for her. Getting a full service next Friday so will get my friend to look at it. It's funny you mention the exhaust and MOT. Is it a common problem with the bracket? Two years in a row mine has been picked up for the exhaust not secure and it's the bracket that has come away from the exhaust. Been welded a few times by the looks of it.

Rusting of the exhaust bracket is a common fault - and charged waaaaayy too high for the replacement part. A piece of scrap metal bent into a bracket and welded on would be a lot cheaper.

Cheers. Think I'll get one if it's £20

Scrap yard might be your best bit if you're looking for cheap, hopefully you can fit/test and replace with another (if needed) if the scrappie is happy to let you do that...

Sounds like an odd question, but is your reverse light working?

Looking at this thread http://www.ds3club.co.uk/showthread....everse-sensors and it mentions a break in the circuit re the bulb going. Also some help re a fault in the sensor module.

My sensors and reverse light went recently and the cause was the body control unit failing. Also caused aircon to not function, but can't say this would happen in every case of this fault.

Iv got a problem too. 9 times out of 10 when I put it in reverse it beeps and says parking system faulty and the yellow service light comes on. But when it does work all sensors are working?

                            I have the same issue.
It's a faulty/covered sensor, if the system detects 1 sensor is faulty it ceases to function.

Your reverse light will still work, Ben's issue was a little different (I guess you didn't get a service light, Ben?)
