DS3 "Black" roof decals coming away

Afternoon All,

I've had my DS3 for about 6 weeks now, and when washing the car (hand wash) this morning noted the roof decals are "slightly" coming away at the front end of the car.

I am hoping this may come under warranty but just need some advise if there is anyone out there thats had a similar problem.

any help appreciated.

Well i have just been to a dealer and they claim they won't touch it as there is a new service bulletin out claiming as such (which they shown me!)

basically said i am stuck with them in the mess they are in unless i want to pay to replace them!

£200+ for the pleasure too!

I noticed while washing last night that they have a step about a third of the way down from the front. Also the little stripes on the spoiler have crazy amounts of bubbles on them, like they were put on by a child/frenchman.

So you have been sold goods of unsatisfactory quality, a letter to citroen uk with some choice legislation should get them replaced. It rattles my cage the way companys think they can just get away with fobbing off joe average because they know 9 times out of 10 they wont take things further.

Rest assured if it was my car which i paid a large amount for i wouldnt back down, but then its my profession to do just that.lol

I'm not going to roll over and take it, its only 6 weeks old!

Another thing is that its a lease car, so if they want to be pricks ill simply get them to accept the fault as theirs and have them remove them. If they are not sticking correctly another set probably will fail also.

I can only think there have been a few complaints and they are drawing the line.

Another part of it is also has bubbles, and were suggesting its the way I'm washing the car.
They couldn't answer me though when I told I was an aircraft engineer and we don't have issues fixing decals to aircraft travelling at their speeds even when covered in deicing fluid.

It is a joke, it will be interesting to see what they will do seeing they are still selling their dodgy striped cars.

The strips are fitted in the UK at the GEFCO yard, there are not fitted by Citroen UK. There was an update to the Warranty about this ages ago and your dealer should have made you aware that they will not be covered by the warranty.

Unfortunately you won't get anywhere with with SOG act as Citroen will have themselves covered, unless you can prove that the dealer caused the damage during preparation there is not not that you will be able to do. Best advice is chat with your dealer and see if they can offer some help.

In relation to the stripes my dealer have been great.
I have the white SE
They took photos of the strip and sent it off to citroen uk who autorised a replacement. The replaced stripes are a different material to those originally fitted. Thicker and textured and sourced an outside company to fit them.
It was of note that another vehicle was having a the same thing done when my vehicle was booked in.

On a lighter note the dealer car in the showroom also had the same problem.
Id go back to the dealer as Citroen are replacing them.

Thats good news that you managed to get a set of replacement strips for your DS3. Citroen have appeared to have a change of heart on this issue but as I have always said if you are nice and good natured to your dealer they are more likely to want to help you out.

being in sales myself I think the Sale of Goods Act will apply

Goods sold must be of merchantable quality, fit for purpose and free from defects, regardless of who fits them, the fact that Citroen sub contract the fitting would not exempt them from responsibility as they have taken payment for the vehicle, including the stickers as a factory fitted option and thus they would be ultimately liable. If however, you had to pay GEFCO for the fitting, they would then become liable for the faulty goods and any necessary repair or replacement

Don't accept Citroen fobbing you off, a fault is just that and should be rectified if it occurs within a 'reasonable time'

Just re-iterating a point here but the sales of good act will most definitely apply.

If I was to buy a new TV from Asda and after 6 weeks the buttons fell off I wouldn't be expected to contact the manufacturer as the trader is liable for any breaches of contract. The same will apply with Citroen. If they provide a product with an inherent fault then it is Citroens responsibility to find a resolution.

Agree with SOGA as i said previously about unsatisfactory quality. Regardless of how strong Citroens legal team is, the SOGA is there to protect the normal everyday joe public consumer.

The above asda example sounds just like the example my tutor gave me in first year in uni, were you my tutor fish?.lol
