  • Day Running Light Loose

Car 3 months old. After a month the nearside DLR detached at the bottom and slid sideways into the housing. Took it back to the dealer. Repaired. Last week the same thing happened. Took it back to dealer, this time they say the lower clip is broken.
To add insult to injury, they reckon I must have had a front end shunt to break the clip. Oh, and I've managed to do this without marking the outside of the car at all:mad:
Apparently the clip isn't available separately, comes as part of the front bumper. I agreed to them attempting a repair. Picked it up today, along with a bill for 70 odd quid (I'm refusing to pay). Anyone else had a similar problem. I'll keep you updated on the bill.

What Was The £70 For ?

I Paid £150 Last Week To Replace A Damaged Link Rod... £80 Of That Was Labour !

Mostly labour I think. Picked car up after most staff away home and "didn't have my wallet on me" Left bill there. They can't replace the bracket, so guessing glued in.
Thinking of threatening an independant engineer inspection, to look at how I could break bracket myself, and standard of repair.

Bodywork is pristine, would like to think breaking an internal bracket would leave some visible damage on it.
Wondering if it's a build/manufacture fault, or when garage repaired last time they weakened the bracket.
They couldn't look me in the eye the other day when suggesting it was accident damage, so maybe they
broke the bracket trying to clip it back in. Just seems very suspect all round.

Might you might end up paying that bill, you agreed to let the garage repair the car which means you agree to them doing the work.

Anyway is odd that the clip would be broken and if it was a defect then I have not heard of anybody else with this problem. The bumper at the front is quite flexible so it is possible that someone push bumped your car enough to twist the bracket and cause it to fail.

Know someone whose car was hit at the front and the brackets all seem to be on the LED light rather then the bumper, did the dealer show you where the broken part is?

My dog ran into the bumper and broke the bracket on the dlr unit and the surround/bracket it screws into. Think I can glue the fixing bracket back on to the dlr unit but need new surround. Appears can only buy in pairs? Anywhere to buy just the left side one?
              Thanks
