Citroen are wiping their hands of it. Everyone who has driven the car from the garage agreed (initially) that it was a problem, as soon as Citroen said "characteristic", they got really arsey and have taken the stance of "see you in court". I've got a independent vehicle inspector to look at it, he was shocked - in his normal drive to test things, he got "locked" in neutral 4 times...

If lots of the gearboxes are doing this, because it’s such a distraction, it’s not going to be long before someone comes off the road. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Now now Zack! There is a sense of desperation and fear on Ricks latest post that requires some support from the forum Kai, did you get anywhere with Citroen?

It seems my car is normal! The petrol variants have a physical block between 5th and reverse, the diesels don't :-(

What you mean is the 6 speed has a physical block and 5 speed transmissions do not. This is regardless of being diesel or petrel.

No, the petrol I sat in was a 5 speed too. It simply wouldn't go from 5th to reverse. Whereas the diesel - both mine and the brand new one just off the transporter - would go from 5th to reverse quite easily and get stuck halfway between.

5 speed Diesel and petrel use the same transmission with slightly different gearing this transmission does not have a positive lockout for reverse. 6 speed also same transmission between petrel and diesel with different gearing this transmission has a positive lockout that must be pulled up in order to shift into reverse. If something is acting different then there is a problem.

Are you pulling straight back? On my 5 speed diesel if you pull it a little bit towards you it gets stuck half out of fifth.

Yes pulling straight back so it's done in one swift movement there's not much stopping it.
And yes if you only pull it back a bit it gets stuck.
