I was driving home the other night in 3rd gear, about 25mph and when I accelerated the car shuddered and slowed down. I changed down to 2nd and it seemed OK. I was near home so didnt get chance to see it do it again. I had to go out again that night so turned the engine on and tried revving it, and it wouldn't go over 2500 revs.
I rang the garage to get it booked in and they couldn't see it for a few days (today) so I thought I would go back out and try it again, and this time it revved all the way up to the red line, so I thought it was a temporary blip. Tried one more time for good measure and again it only went up to 2500 revs.
I drove it over to the garage this morning and while driving it seemed fine. The bloke at the garage said its meant to stop at 2500 revs while idling. Still doesn't explain the shuddering and slowing down the other day though.
Just waiting for them to ring me, but does everyone elses do that when idling?
What engine's this in relation to?

They just rang, its fixed, apparently there were some software updates that were needed and one of them was for this exact problem...
I'll see over the next few days, it's back in with them next week for the 25k service anyway

Always suspicious of software updates resolving issues- sure you will keep an eye on it
