  • Strange noise when locking?

    Hey guys,

This has only started (well i've only noticed it in the last couple of days anyway). but when i lock the the car theres a "squeaking" or whirring noise that seems to come from the passenger side of the car. the doors lock ok, so its not like theres something not catching. I know theres a bit of sound from the mirrors folding in but that will just be normal.
I'm not overly worried about it, as long as you're not going to tell me my car will spontaneously combust!! Just more curious.... Anyone else have the same?

From previous cars it sounds like the beginning of a failure in the central locking motor. I doubt there's much you can get done under warranty till it actually breaks, could still take years. I reckon it's the sound of it struggling (wear/tear).

What to try is just folding the mirrors on their own to see if the 'squeak' is present, that way you can eliminate whether it's the locks or mirrors making the noise.

So the squeak is with the mirrors then?

oops, no lol. i meant i folded the mirrors in myself but no noise until i locked it... So its likely that there may be some kind of fault with the locking?
