Warranty cover

Just a quick one, first service due shortly, been quoted £170 by main dealer, can get a service alot cheaper, would this affect
the warranty cover, would be from a garage (stamped etc). What leeway do you have, is it up to a thousand mile after service due milleage.

Service tolerance is 30 days over or 1,000 miles. As long as the garage you use are VAT registered and use Citroen Parts then you should have no problem. The only thing to bear in mind is that if you make a warranty claim then the dealer could possibly veto your claim as they have felt that the vehicle was not done to the correct standard.

Under European law the manufacturer cannot invalidate the warranty as long as Original Equipment equivalent parts are used. They do not have to be Citroen parts - just up to the same standard.

Thats very true, but how are you going to judge what parts are up to the standard? Thats why I advise just sticking to the original Citroen parts.

I have had problems with the car (new timing chain) so for the sake of a few quid I'll go to main dealer, thanks for the info.

Agreed, I've had my diesel just over a year now and had to fork out the full £200 for two manufacturers services, so £400 in total, but I'd rather pay and be safe than sorry. As Biggie highlighted, if they do the work - if it goes fubar, then they can't back out with a claim of bad workmanship.
