  • DRL'S - DS3 exclusive?

Anyone been watching An Idiot Abroad 2 on Sky One and noticed that in the Citroen sponsor adverts, the DS4 is shown with both DRL's and main beam headlights on?

I've also noticed out on the road that all the latest Mercedes, Saab's and some Vauxhall Isignia's (plus many other makes) seem to run with both DRL's and main beam headlights on.

I thought the reaosn the DS3 DRL's couldn't be on with main beam was a legislation issue?

So this law is exclusive to the DS3?

Are they as bright as ours? May sound like a girly thing to say, but ours are really bright!

I know the Mercedes ones are really bright and they are completely seperate to the main lamp cluster like ours.

The DS4 ones look as bright but I've not seem one to have a real check.

Not sure, never actually seen one at the point where they switch on or off, but that could be how they work to get around it.

The voltage through the DRL's on the DS4, C4 Picasso and C5 all drop when the main headlights come on, thus keeping them within the letter of the law.

On DS3 the candar rating of the LED lights and the fact that they do not dim means they switch off at night. Remember the DS3 was the first Citroen the bear these DRL's which may explain why they work the way they do.

There is ths thread with quite a bit of work done re the DRL's and the adjustments made for Day DRL's and Night setting.

Showing how bright the DRL's are at night, and why the adjustments where made:

LOL, thanks mate, I know this has been discussed many times, it was just the DS4 on the advert that provoked me to ask the question, but your answer makes perfect sense.

P.S At least the DRL's have been consistent in reliability on mine. about the only thing that has!

Not sorted yet, it goes back to my local dealer next Monday and the Citroen UK techs are coming to look at it. I've already told both Citroen UK and the original supplying dealer that if it remains unsolved after that I'm looking to reject the car.

It was particularly bad this morning, I did notice each time it hesitated it belched black smoke out the back.

The DS3 was originally designed with 2 stage front leds and single stage rear leds but was left out. This is not to say they will not become a feature on future DS3s

Technicalities are there for several purposes and they need to follow on through some webs. Moreover you have to suggest essayhave.com reviews that will suggest through the different parts to follow them particularly.
