  • 1.6 thp temperature problem?

Is it normal when you take the engine in higher revs, the temperature on the dash is going down?

    Thank you

It's always a little over the middle when I drive normal, but when I take it into high revs, after a few seconds it drops a lot. Dealer told me it is the waterpump that is cooling the engine, but don't believe that.

Coolant level is always low. They can't find the problem causing that. In 7 weeks it goes from max to min

With low I mean on min when it's cold. I refill every 6-7 weeks. When I keep it +- 20 seconds in high revs it drops to the beginning of the middle block, so that's a lot i suppose.

It shouldn't be losing coolant, surely?

Mine's done over 20k miles with no coolant loss over that period.

This isn't normal.. Could be as simple as a loose pipe or something.. but more serious problems which could cause this are a knackered cylinder head / head gasket.. etc

Tell your dealership about this & they'll probably look into it

I have to agree that is not normal, you shouldn't need to top up your coolant. If it's not leaking externally then you are looking at a very serious problem, either way you should get it looked at straight away.

Have the same with my DS3,

Noticed it last summer when driving in Germany. Even with 200+ km/h the temperature didn't rise!
But don't need to refill every 6 weeks. Didn't refilled it till now.

I had the same problem with mine back in January, my coolant would vanish after 3 weeks. I had he water pump replaced and I never lost a drop since. I did however have my head gasket go and my cylinder head replaced so take your pick.

2 months ago they took out the engine and checked everything. There was a brown colour in the cylinder. The told me that's water. They put engine back in the car and problem was solved for a few weeks but it came back. When I tell them about the waterpump they won't believe me.

If there was water in a cylinder then definitely a head gasket or cracked head, they saw this and didn't replace anything?
