  • Fitting new front seats -dashboard warning light

I was really lucky and managed to get a leather interior to fit in the car. I was wondering about the fitting of the front seats.

The fitting should be P**S easy with only 4 bolts each and then the sensor wire connection, but if I remove the cable will a dashboard warning light come on?

Is there a method to do this to avoid that happening other than disconnecting the battery?

    Thanks in advance!

Not Much Help Sorry As You May Be A Pioneer In Doing This To A DS3 Out Of The Dealership...

I'd Disconnect The Battery Though !

Can't imagine getting one but even if you did it should clear when hook it all back up.

Well I can only hope. It is the just the bother that will occur if there is and I need to go to a dealer to reset it. By bother, i mean price :P

Hopefully unhooking the battery will avoid it anyway. I will however check I have my radio code before, haha.

There should be no issue as the airbag system is the same regardless of the seats, make sure you disconnect the battery first. If you get an error then your only option will be to return to the dealership (by the way this will fall under a modification to factory spec - thus warranty void).

Before anyone asks the Citroen System state what equipment and trim is fitted to each VIN.

They really are spoil sports, aren't they :P I'll do this over the weekend and let you know what happens, just in case anyone else decides to do it.

Just on the subject of warranty (que rolling eyes) I get that if a light goes off or whatever then that would not be covered under the warranty, but does this kind of thing void that specific part (understandable cause I changed it -ergo I set off the light myself) or the whole thing?

The last thing I would want is for the engine to blow up and then citroen call up and inform me that because i wanted to perch my arse on lovely leather seats that it would not be covered

In these days of loopholes galore, it would be good to know if common sense prevails or they will do anything to get out of it.

            Warrantys = touchy subject!

Please also disconnect the + battery cable and wait for a while!
Otherwise It can happen that the side airbags will blow into your face

Edit: Sorry, already mentioned above

With the rising cost of warranty claims these days then most manufactures will use any exscue to avoid paying a huge bill so any change will have a bearing. That said it's going to come down on how well you get on with your Service manager at your dealership. Best bet is to have a word with him regarding the change of seats and see if he is comfortable with placing warranty claims in the future if something else happens. Worth testing the water I think.

well, I couldn't wait till saturday! Done it in the pitch black last night and can report everything was hunky-dorey.

Disconnected the battery, removed 4 bolts each side, cable was one of the "cantilever types" so was easy to fit and then bolted back in.

Tentative minute wait after battery was refitted for the airbag light to go off (why does it come on every trip, haha) and then VIOLA, new leather interior.

Door cards still to fitted, but in no hurry to do that, but all in all, 30 minutes work if that.

The way that the on board communication systems work within modern vehicles (CANBus / Multiplex ) before removing anything thats connected to the vehicle you really should remove the battery terminals and wait for a least 30 minutes this allows for any residule power to dissapate from the system.

Great advise mate. that was indeed the first thing i did when I got home was removed the battery, went in the house and had some dinner before tackling the removal.

                        just in case

I'm sorta regretting getting a leather interior, especially with winter approaching because it's 'king freezing plonking one's posterior on these cold mornings. Why, oh why did they not offer heated seats? (Though not much use when you first put arse to leather).

I feel you mate. Used to an Alfa 147 with the heated seats and they were bliss. The missus has informed me in uncertain terms that I am required to buy a "throw" for the passenger seat.

The next thing i know she will be hanging a lamp shade and getting scatter cushions, lol!
