  • Engine Management Light

    Alright kids,

Managed to get an ELM on the car earlier and read the code that's had the check engine light on for the past few weeks.

A bit of background, a couple of days after coming back from Wales I picked up the car from the garage. Since I had a couple 100 miles to get home and en route as soon as the car was travelling up hill at speed or at generally "high" speeds the turbo would just suddenly drop out.

the problem is still replicable to date i.e. when pushing it the turbo will suddenly just give way.

Anyways. ELM in the car, error code came back as P0299 which suggests underboost meaning there is either a leak somewhere or the turbo has some sort of fault.

I've checked all over for any sort of leak and can't find one.

The turbo 90% of the time run's fine, it's simply when it's under load I encounter issues.

    Anyone got any ideas?

This happened to my C8 regularly and was in and out of the Garage that may times that I thought I would be getting an invite to their works Xmas do!

Eventually, I had to have a new Turbo, and this happened just after my warranty had expired. Fair play to Citroen though they replaced it for free, only charging me something like £180 for the labour, but I think that they felt guilty knowing that it had been in and out of the dealership that often and had not been dealt with beforehand.

    Hope you have more luck.

when i first started having issues with viezu remapping mine the error codes where coming back as an OVERboost issue. and recently without the remap when flooring accelerator doing 50/60 in 4th gear ( loading the turbo) it knocked the turbo out like ur saying. All citroen have done to mine is changed the vaccum hoses on turbo, adjusted angle of pcv pipe and cleared light. No problems YET. ( fingers crossed)

No remap is on the car at the moment =\
I've tried clearing the codes but it's not having any of it which suggests the issue is mechanical.. Fml

There's an idea. I've not done a full vacuum test but the battery thing sounds like a good idea. Does that actually reset it though? O.o

Sounds like a split diaphragm on the turbo actuator, get it alot on Audis and throws up an underboost code

Vac test the actuator (assuming they're vacuum fed not electric) and see

Had a chat with Forge (it's their actuator ) Gonna take it back in a couple of weeks and put the stock one back on.

Why did you mounted Forge actuator ? There was something wrong with a stock one? I don't understand...?

Did changing the actuator solve the problem?
