It's for every country. In Belgium 22000 Mini's will receive a letter.

Personally i think Citroen dealerships havn't got a clue whats going on with these THP Engines....Wish they would recall them to fix our misery !!!.

I'm sure you're right. The people that worked on mine were very well-meaning, but the procedure seems to be that before any warranty work can go ahead, thery have to get approval from CUK, and that seems to involve relaying the fault codes & waiting for instructions.

Result? The person who decides where the fault lies, and which bit to replace next, is not the technician who has driven your car, experienced its problems, listened to its misfires etc and dismantled its oily bits, but someone at the end of a phone who is just going on the basis of what the computer says.

I look back wistfully on the days when an experienced mechanic could simply look at & listen to an engine, and diagnose the problem. These days, even if the technician is 99% certain that the fault lies with x or y, if the diagnostic Computer Says No, then they've got to follow the set procedure rather than follow their gut instinct. When this happens under warranty it's just irritating (assuming they fix it in the end, by a process of elimination) but once you're out of warranty it's damned expensive because you're paying for them to replace parts that actually don't need replacement.

Incidentally, the local mechanic that looks after my Barchetta has a wholly admirable policy of not charging for a repair if the repair doesn't cure the problem (i.e. if he's misdiagnosed it). Bet you ££ that if our THPs were out of warranty, we'd still be having to pay for all these repairs, even those that weren't necessary.

                End of rant!

I rang Citroen Manchester a few weeks back to get a management light cleared and was told they'd had a few THP's in with check engine lights on. There's a few out there who know what's going on however CUK are keeping their mouths shut about it.

One of the issues mentioned above affects my Racing, in the cold it struggles to pull away. Same as my old car which then progressively gets worse, sometimes my old Racing wouldn't pull up my hill at all. I'm sure the replacement one I've got which is at the dealers right now will go the same way, it started to play up when cold last week.

It went in on Monday and I've not heard anything, but I'm also not anticipating taking it back either.

At the Moment I cannot fault the dealer or the techie doing the work

The fault code said coil packes failed but that was not the case and was ignorned I think he said the fuel runs at 40Bar and can run as low as 5 but the engine self learns to run lower to get you home .

My over all worry is I have had two what I call "long life" items fail in a low milage car ...................is the whole thing a ticking time bomb

And other than that I love the car to bits over a few silly fast ones ive owned .............St3 mapped 320bhp and evo 8 mapped 395

I think the DS3 is a brilliant car but for me enough is enough and I'm bailing out. I think the whole THP issue needs more owners to say enough is enough and reject their cars before anything serious is done.

With all these THP's dying I'm beginning to think that Citroen were telling the truth when they told me that what I was experiencing was "characteristic of the engine"
