  • Rattle on top of Steering Wheel/Rattle on Back seats/Squeak on drivers seatbelt case

    Hello everyone!

This is the first post i do in this forum, as I am a newcomer. I drive a 2011 DS3 THP,

Starting this year, i had to change my whole A/C system, given that the condensator was broken. After sending it to be replaced, my DS3 came back with a rattle on the drivers seat, to be specific, on the plastic lid that goes on top of the Speedometer. Whenever i press it down, the rattle stops. This only occurs when i go through roads that are not perfectly plain. Sadly for me, this is almost everytime, given that where i live, all roads are broke.

I've tried stuffing some foam between the lid and the top part of the dashboard, but this does not seem to fix it completely. I dont know if anyone has a solution for this problem.

On a side note, I have a squeaking coming from the drivers seat belt latch. This one occurs as well, when i go through roads that have imperfections.

Finally, I have a rattling noise coming from the back seat. I've analyzed it quite a bit, and my back seats are well secured. However, when i press the seats towards where they are hold, the rattle stops. When i let them lose and go through imperfections on the road, a big rattle occurs, for about 1-2 seconds. I've thought about using industrial rubber bands to give a better holding to the backseats. What do you think about this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I had the exact same issue with my 2011 DS3 THP. Sadly it didn't squeak when the dealer test drove the car so it wasn't replaced. I tried to lubricate it with dry lube but no effect. I then noticed that if you bend the receptacle towards the center console, the squeaking stops. So I stuffed a piece of thick rubber foam between the receptacle case and the driver's seat. And, no more squeaking! It has to be quite thick piece of foam rubber to work.

As for the back seats, have someone sit in the back while you're driving and try to pinpoint the source of the rattle. It could be related to the seatbelts...

Re the rear seats, is it the locking mechanism rattling against where it secures the seats in an upright position? If so would some grease applied to the mechanism help?

These are new ones on me, my DS3 had a v rattly glove box, was driving me mad but WTF gave me a tip to fold a micro-fibre cloth and place it against the flat panel (fuse box lid) in the RHD DS3s and then there was silence. Well apart from a plastic squeak from the centre arm rest, solved that with some WD-40 (spray oil) in the hinge and it was quiet thereafter.....

      Good luck

Sounds like the dashboard cover, I take you mean the hood over the dials, hasn't been fitted correctly. The only way to fix this would be to take everything apart your self and use fresh self taps, I believe there is a guide in my file repository

Other other is you push a piece of card into the gap to act as a buffer, will be easier then foam.

For the rear seats the issue is the lock buckle, give it a good grease and that should sort it otherwise you can adjust the catch.
