Hi guys,
due to a problem, I changed the steering box and i found the spare by giving the VIN to the spare shop.
After installing it by an independent workshop, the esp/asr light came out but mechanically no probs. This happened twice, with 2 different steering box spares (both regenerated, so no straight from scrapyard).
I brought it over to Citroen to clear the code, they said that the mounted steering box had no ESP (?) so it wasn't the correct one. It goes without saying that getting it fixed by Citroen will be 1.5k vs 300 if I manage to find the right spare and get it mounted.
Citroen is reluctant to elaborate more about this issue, Ideally they should be the one to give the exact spare code but they aren't.
My questions are.
1. how is it even possible that a steering box for a DS3 doesn't have ESP and some others do. ESP is not an option so it must be on all of them.
2. how can i make sure I'm getting the right spare to avoid the problem again? It seems that VIN is not enough
3. Are the codes actually guarantee an exact match and why there are so many?
Attaching a screenshot of a potential spare I found who does mention ESP in the steering box
Cheers
