  • diesel injectors

hi people .my 7 year old ds3 which ive had from new has just decided its not going to be best mates anymore and last night just outside warrington went into limp mode ( the car not me ) been told today that number 3 injector has a short circuit had will cost a billion bitcoins to replace ........could it not just be a chaffed wire or does it need to be replaced and if so do i face the likelihood of the other 3 failing in the near future ?

    cheers guys

Get someone you know, or spend like 20 quid on ebay for a OBD reader and see what fault codes have presented.

If it is a short circuit it is most likely due to some insulation missing from a wire causing the short, it is possible for it to be fixed if you don't mind tracing the wires back from the suspected injector and seeing if there is obvious damage which could be fixed with a cable splice. Although since injectors are fairly precision bits of tech they may be not resilient to a short. Also it may be worth checking the fuses to see if the short blew the fuse applicable for the injector. (easy but tedious task)

Also shop around for parts, the diesels on the DS3 are fairly ubiquitous since they are common on a number of Citoren and Peugeot cars, if you can get the part code there may be a better price for it

Had the same here a few weeks back while traveling home on the motorway (not a good place to go into limp mode 70mph to 30mph) ESP/ASR lights on and engine light on. Next morning the fault had gone. Took the car into dealership to get it diagnosed - and it looks like number 4 diesel injector is intermittently faulty. They said to monitor it and if it keeps happening then a replacement injector would be required (approx £750) hence the monitor it. Anyhow it happened again so will be taking car back in to confirm it is still injector 4 that is faulty and if so will get it replaced ££££ /cry.

Anyhow I have a question about injectors, if a injector is replaced will this effect the map I have as I've heard that injectors need to be programmed into the ECU?

Most likely going to be getting a diesel injector changed, does anyone know if doing so would effect the re-map I have?

Hey bud. Did you get it from Jamie? If so, give him a quick call, see what he says. I don't know if they have to reprogram the ECU after replacing injectors. Be interested to know though.

The remap wonÂ’t be effected when they code the injector, only if they do a software update which isnÂ’t needed.

There you go pmk . I'd tell them not to update the software as what Jamie has said above. Have a chat with them before they do any work to make sure they know what the deal is.
