  • Citroen 1.2 turbo engine cambelt failure

Hello my cam belt snapped on my ds3 1.2 turbo 64k

and citroen say it’s because I used a flush treatment on my last oil change. As it’s a wet belt but the chemicals on the flush are not on Citroen’s list of things that can affect the belt

they won't foot the bill for a new engine

the cars not 3 years old yet

Humm, a liquid belt ? What's the use in that? It's probably the same block as the thp ? But going off topic. How the hell did they know that you used a flush ? Also does it say on the can that's it's safe to use on belts ? Ifso, contact the seller/liquid moly, they should compensate you for it. They won't make anything that will harm your engine. They're not that stupid...

Contact the flush manufacturer, tell them you used there product (be specific which one) and what has happened, along with what Citroën told you.

Once you have a reply (in writing /email), ring Citroën customers services and explain your side of it, with the backup of the flush manufacturer response.

Hopefully they'll be more keen to respond.

          No as it's a 3 cylinder engine

The warranty conditions are that you have the car serviced by a dealer using genuine parts. By doing it yourself and using a flushing solution that Citroen hasn't endorsed you have probably invalidated your warranty.

              Hello
as citroen didn’t have a loan car {as usual} it went to a reputable dealer for servicing

based on the fact that citroen had tried to sell me a flush onthe 3 previous services the oil was flushed out
I am now in possession of a internal document. From citroen stating which chemicals could damage the cam. Belt called X5R belt

NONE OF THE 5 chemicals on Citroen’s list appears on the data sheet from liquid moly

also I’m was told in confidence the cam belt renewal mileage recommendation is to be cut from 175000 kilometres to 100000 kilometres. 62000 miles my car has done 65k

slso my car was showing P15AO faulty code in April 17 which was lubrication sensor fault / blocked
