  • Carbon Clean

    Hi all!

I've messaged a local company, that remaps cars and also offers a carbon clean.

I'm a bit skeptical whether or not to get it done, as it is only £99, so in a sense, you get what you pay for.
I gave him a message to ask about it and he says the carbon clean injects hydrogen into the engine and it breaks down the carbon and he adds fuel treatments to the tank that cleans the injectors. Does this sound as if it would work? I asked him and obviously, like most places, he agreed and said it would and works on all cars, as the carbon clean takes care of every air touches and the fuel cleaner cleans everything fuel touches.

    Thanks!

These kind of things have been tried before and make a slight reduction, but will no way clear it totally.

Ask nicely if they'd be willing to take endoscope pictures before and after, their response will tell you a lot about how confident they are in their product/service.

Thank you very much, I shall give him a message back now and keep you updated with his reponse!
      Many thanks for the reply!

That is the response for asking for the before and after pictures

'No unfortunately not. It’s a cleaning system that cleans out carbon and it’s designed to have a 20 min cleaning run, it’s not going to remove 100% of the carbon but it will clean a lot of it and it’s more of a maintenance thing.'

And that is a very honest answer. I am surprised!

I had something similar a while back, he eventually agreed that walnut blasting was the only option for a full clean, and like the statement above, the carbon clean was a better than nothing measure....

Agree with both above, he's a genuine sounding guy and the process will be better than doing nothing, and will be a good stop-gap for you to think about getting to a walnut blasting location.

Having tried hydrogen cleaning in a GDI engine, it make no discernable difference. Keep your money and save it towards a walnut blast.
