  • New Brake Discs Help

As stated in a different post i am getting my calipers refurbished soon and while i was looking at them i noticed my brake discs are a little rusrty and worn. I'm guessing they been on the car since 2011 the car stops fine and its booked in for a free brake check to make sure but can anyone recommend new ones?

ATS Euromaster and National Tyres centre quoted me around £400 for new discs and pads all round but then York Motor Factors only quoted me £160 for a set of 4 Apec discs and suggested i get a local independent to fit them not a national chain and keep my current pads if still ok.

As much as i would like to up-rate the brakes i know doing so will increase my insurance premiums (which is crazy as better brakes should lower it) so keeping stock is only option.

Just had a look at Citroen Owners service site and they want £200 for front discs and pads and £220 for rear, i know brakes is my safety but i dont have that kind of money.

Buy the parts and fit them yourself. I bought the full set of uprated discs and pads from EBC and had a mate to fit them for me yesterday.

If they’ve been on as long you think, I’d also buy a sledgehammer for removal of the front discs. Definitely a good investment and will save a lot of time.

I think your sledgehammer needs to be pride of place on the wall in your living room mate

How many brake pads are there? Is it one per wheel?

Two pads per wheel but I just bought mine in sets, front and back.

Citroen dealership offered to replace just my front pads & discs for £350.
I paid about £300 to eurocarparts for all my pads and discs (standard brembo), front and rear, and changed them myself. Can get you part numbers, if you like? Had to buy a few niche sockets, and a mallet as discussed above, to get the front discs off.

I wouldn't have thought there's much point in uprating the brakes unless you plan to also introduce more power.

I used a G clamp, but yes they are relatively cheap and useful.
