  • Ds3 dsport plus lack of power - engine fault light - hi / low mixture?

    Hi All,
I have owned my 64 plate D-SPORT Plus 1.6 since October 2017.I have often noticed the performance doesn't seem to be there even once the engine has warmed up. The throttle also feels like it sticks from time to time. The other week an engine light came on. Its been back to the local citroen dealer. Apparently there was 2 fault codes. 1 referring to hi mixture & the other low mixture apparently. Confusing I know!

The garage also send my oil was over filled by a litre! Not good considering the last service was done by themselves when I picked the car up for the 1st time in October 2017. The oil has been drained to the correct level & the fault codes reset. Apparently there could be further issues due to the fact that I only do local mileage about 4 miles a day & don't get get the opportunity to get the car upto speed often. I've always filled up with super unleaded since I have owned the car. The mileage was about 23000 when I brought the car its now just over 25000. The chap in the service department warned me due to the lack of miles I do & lack of high speed driving etc. I could have problems with carbon build up in the inlet values etc? I will try to make the effort to go for the odd longer run at weekends etc to give the engine a good clean out.

Going forward, I'm wondering whether I should just change car due to the engine not being suitable for such little mileage etc. I am concerned about future issues this could cause that wouldn't be covered but the warranty. My girlfriend has a 17 plate with the 1.2 turbo engine in it & when I have driven that I find it more responsive during local mileage then my D-Sport plus.

Any help or advice from fellow D-sport plus owners who has experience similar issues or problems would be appreciated.

    Regards
    Gary

Does sound like carbon causing the ECU to dump extra fuel in. Doubt you're getting HPFP issues with the things you're seeing, but that would cause momentary fuel drops.

The 1.2 will be more economical, but when the 1.6 is running well it's more fun. Up to you really with how you feel about your car.

Hi thanks for the reply. Its a tough decision what to do. The car had 24000 or it when I brought it. I have no idea how the previous owner drove it style wise & I don't know know if they used super unleaded etc. I am considering getting the inlet values walnut blasted to clear them out if they are clogged up.
I agree with what you said about the 1.6 being fun, as on the odd occasion when the power is there it does shift well. I am just concern if things continue as they are I may end up with major issues etc to deal with. I'll give my car a bit of a run this weekend & see how it feels.

If it’s never been walnut blasted, that would be the first thing I’d check. Jamie at SP Tuning did mine and it’s well worth it. He’d also be able to diagnose any other issues that may be present.
