  • Failing hpfp?

    Hi guys

I've got a 2012 dsport with 42k on the clock

It's got a lumpy idle, not excessively but worse than I'd expect for a car it's age and it feels like its hesitating with changes of throttle.

Led to believe this could be the hpfp? Waiting on my obd2 bluetooth scanner to check the pressures but looking around it seems like eBay is one of the few places to buy a new pump?

    Any one got any recommendations?

    Cheers

    Kyle

I'm sure EuroCarParts should have one, or Citroen parts dept.

Does sound like it could be the pump, if not that then it'll be carbon on the valves.

you need the fault codes to ensure it is the HPFP
Could well be the inlet valves need decarbonising
      Possibly the injectors

When my HPFP went, it went dramatically- I'd had 2 "hesitation " episodes a few days b4, then the HPFP failed

I think the MINI uses the same HPFP, and is a fair bit cheaper, but pm Jamie at SPTuning to check

        Cheers for the responses guys.

Not had any eml etc yet but suppose there could still be codes stored?
Injectors? Dam, are they another common issue with these engines?

Euro car parts have them for £220 but are out of stock, eBay are at £350, either way I want to check the pressures first before ordering anything. I'll look in to the r56 one thank you.

It's had the timing chain done 5k ago by citroen, receipt has a charge for head cleaning but I hear citroens method is poor and often doesn't work?

        Cheers

Check pressures first with odb tool. Might be a bad cleaning which left the intake valves still clogged. Q

no, injectors aren't common, its just on the list of things they check before going to HPFP. At least they did on mine

              Hi guys

My blue tooth dongle for the torque app finally arrived today.

At idle I'm told fuel pressure should be about 50 bar (*750psi)

On mine I'm getting at the lowest 620 and the highest 800 as it seems to be fluctuating quite a bit. Those are the extremes, commonly seems to be around 660 to 750, more stable shortly after a throttle blip.

              What's everyone's thoughts?

              Cheers

It should be 50 bars at idle, and 120 when revving the engine/load and stay there.

                  Cheers for the reply

I've testes it again and at idle it's between 750 and 650. At full throttle it seems to peak at 1630 but I can get nearly 1800 at lower rpm or lower throttle. Seems strange but I'm pretty certain the pumps good for now. The hesitation is between 2-3k rpm where the fuel pressure seem good.

Ironically the hesitation hasn't came back the last few days after its had a good couple of High load pulls, cleared a bit of carbon out maybe?

Either way I'm going to service it and change the plugs at the weekend as it's due and try get it into sp tuning for a walnut blast, this still the best place to go?

                  Cheers for all the help
