  • Problems with DS3 Sport

Hi, looking for some advice as I’m at my wits end with my car!
I have a 62 plate DS3 Sport 1.6 THP, it’s got 31k on the clock. Had it for 2 years and it’s ran great. 6 months ago it started rough idling - it starts to judder and feels like the engine will stall. Then it stops and the revs go back up, then it starts again. The exhaust also puffs out smoke while it does this. It usually happens when I’ve driven 5-10 Miles and stop at traffic lights or pull into a parking space etc and the engine is still running. I’ve had it at 3 garages now, one of which was the Arnold Clark Citroen dealership I bought it from and they have tried to fix it 4 times. List of repairs so far are:
New spark plugs, fuel treatment, oil change, oil treatment, new timing chain kit, new air intake hose, sandblasted the cylinder head valves (Arnold Clark didn’t open the engine for this, they stuck a pipe in through the exhaust) it’s just back from another garage who have replaced a valve which regulates the fuel intake I think, still awaiting on the official detail or works they did. But the car is still doing the same thing and the exhaust is smokey. The garage have suggested it may need a full engine decoke but that’s a last resort.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??? I love my car and have spent a bit on it so really want to keep it. But this problem is driving me nuts and I know nothing at all about cars!

    Welcome to the club.

Timing chain or fuel pump. Probably carbon build up too as it sounds like the dealer didn’t solve that either.

Speak to Jamie at SP Tuning, he’ll be able to sort you out.

Hi, I have read your post out to my partner and he used to have a ds3 like I do now and he has suggested it may be the MAF sensor or a long shot could be a CAM BUCKET which is placed inside the fuel pump if that has a black spot on too of the cam BUCKET it can make the car run rich and lumpy.

Hope this may help and you keep your little DS3 and carry on enjoying it like we all do.
