  • Service Light Issue - Citreon Say it's a remap fault

Hi guys, long time no see

I'm trolling through previous threads and hit up google but struggling for an answer.

Basically my service light "SERVICE" is contstantly on. The car had an interim service done October last year and a full service done June this year (Im trying to sell the car). Each occasion the car has come back with the service light on and the technicians say that they are not sure what the problem is and I need to take the car to the remap company to investiage further...
I've mentioned it to the remap company last year and they said they've never had any issues with this before....

What I'd like to know is, has anyone else had the same issue and needed to take the car back to the remap company to get the solution?

Im running a DS3 2011 1.6ehdi Dsyle Plus. Engine was remapped on 06/01/2015 and never had any issues with it until just before the service in October last year.

Sounds more like they're blaming the remap company so they don't have to fix it.

Where did you get it remapped? If the company is decent then they should be able to help diagnose the fault.

Well I spoke to Citreon Customer service, who pointed me towards DS customer service, who pointed me back to the remap company...
As the engine has been remapped, the vehicle is now classified as a modified car. As the service techs can't pinpoint the issue as it's now classified as a modifired car their only solution is for to go back to the remap company to pinpoint the issue - even though I told them I've had the remap for 2 years prior to the service light with no issue as well as speaking to the remap company who've said they've never had this issue before with any of their DS3 remaps

Maybe sticking on OEM map back on could help. Maybe Citroen could quote for doing that and if its £50 ish then think about it
Tried the ole "disconnect the battery" routine overnight?
        Unplugged the ECU?

Never tried the disconnecting the battery thing. First I've heard of it ^_^ I'll give it a shot (negative and postive right. I'm sure I read somewhere that the negative has a connection with the stop/start come to think of it... If it hasn't done the trick when i try it in the morning, I'll find out about OEM map before speaking to the remap guys

Is it far to go back to the remap place? (I take it wasn't SP Tuning?) Might be worth a quick visit to see if they can find anything for you. I reckon you will get more info from them than Citroën or DS.

So tried the whole battery thing and that didnt work. Spoke with the Citreon place near me and they cant put the original map back on, they'd need to replace the ECU which would be the £1000+... Ill keep ya updated to how things go.

When I part exed my first THP which had been remapped, the Mapper said do you want me to put OEM back on. And he wasn't the same mapper who remapped the car (If you follow)
Didn't cost me anything at all for him to put the OEM map back on. what part of the world you live?

Do you have a port where the map was put on, or an ECU that had to be broken into? Cos if its done via a port, I cant see the expense? other than getting the map.

Could always look at a used OEM ECU and replace it yourself as a straight swap (I haven't thought it thru that much to consider whether a problem would arise from doing that)

don't go down the £1000 route- sounds like extortion to me

I'm living in Kendal, Cumbria and Vantage Citroen Morecambe are the guys are normally go to see for services, info etc
It might be possibly cheaper for me to get that ECU unit instead of making a 6hr round trip to invesitage the problem... Just checking with the remap company bout something before I start spending more money xD

maybe take a bit of advice, but remember somebody suggesting to me just "have a spare ECU" and swap back to OEM for Citroen services so they don't overwrite a remap

So cant see why an ECU just cant be swapped. a bit of googling could help.

Your a bit far away to see one of my remappers in Bromley :-)
