  • Stop Start & charging rate

    Hi,

My DS3 110 Hdi Sport 2012 is fitted with stop start. However it very rarely works. I have checked the battery voltage and am only getting 12.5V although I never have any starting issues. I have checked the charge rate and that only seems to be around 12.8V. I would have expected it to be around 14V.

I am assuming that the start stop problem is due to low battery voltage. What should the charge rate be?

Need to take it to someone that can do a drop test on the battery to see what voltage it is giving under load. That will tell you if it is the battery, which if it is still the original one I would think it is. You need the battery to be almost fully charged but also holding up under load and as they get older they don't, so to stop you getting a flat battery it will disable stop-start.

Parked the car over winter with a solar battery "charger" connected and the battery was flat when I returned. Have fitted a new battery (at great expense) and the stop/start is working perfectly now.

Fabulous- my stop start hasn't worked for 6 months- hope my half knackered battery copes for another couple years

Don't understand the complaints with S/S. I love it. Guaranteed to turn a traffic light green as soon as you knock it out of gear to stop the engine.
