  • Diagnosed faulty coolant temperature sensor

    Hi,

I have had my car in a local garage and they have diagnosed my DS3 as having a faulty coolant temperature sensor. I've had the typical symptoms such as the warning message 'engine temperature fault' and the lit coolant temperature light on the dashboard. The temp gauge would frequently flicker between normal and 'overheating' state.

Does anyone have any advice on this? My local garage said its an expensive fix and quoted around £300 in addition to a citroen specialist would need to fix it. My DS3 is a 62 plate 1.6 petrol engine. Is this a common fault in DS3s?

    Thanks.

I had issues with mine and bought a replacement sensor which fits into the bleed screw hole in the thermostat housing and basically bypasses the original faulty sensor. Took around 10 minutes to fit and was a lot cheaper and easier than a whole new thermostat housing. Found an eBay listing for one below, although you may find one cheaper.
