DS3 Cabrio 2013 roof failure

my 2013 DS3 roof failed , I purchased the car in 2016 really happy with it until the roof started to make strange noises July 17 anyway long story eventually get car roof repaired 10 days later new canvas and worked fine. Didn’t use it much as the weather turned then in June this year it just stopped working took car in to Citroen and need a new roof! £6500 . I am fuming to say the least I believe the roof should have been replaced under warranty as they had a lot of problems repairing it .
Citroen are offering to help pay 35% really helpful not.
Is there a big issue with the cabrio roofs or was I as the dealer said very unlucky.

Hi and welcome Loops67. Sorry to hear about your cabrio roof being goosed. There have been a few posts recently as Chris_Blue has said. You could try and convince Citroën that they should've fixed it properly originally, but they would probably come back and say that they did. It's shite how much they cost to fix (which is just ridiculous btw) and I know this doesn't ease the pain, but at least they have offered to pay something towards it, which is more than others have managed to get.

Whatever is wrong with it, it is very unlikely you need a new roof unless you've rolled it of course! All the different parts can be replaced so it looks like it needs a proper assessment, not by a gouging Citroen Garage. I can tell you they are gouging as a new roof should not cost £6.5k so don't pay it! If they won't do it for free,tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine as it is probably their "repair" that knackered it! A specialist like these guys should be able to help:

Citroen have offered to pay 35% of the cost but it’s still more than I can afford to pay
I will have a look at independent roof repairers I was thinking of it’s a common fault I could argue with Citroen but they have now referred me to the car traders ombudsman.
Im thinking about that.

Sorru to hear aboit the roof :-((. Mine failed when th3. Ar was 4 years old, but luckily was replaced under the Citroen used car warranty. The roof is manufactured by Webasto in Germamy as a single untit containing guide rails, cables, motors, control units, parcel shelf and fabric roof that is basically bonded into the Vitroen body shell in th3 factory. It is not cleaned and lubricated during a standard Citroen service and my thoughts are that consequentially the build up of dirt in the channels and therefore friction causes the toof to seize up.

Getting Citroen to admit to this design/service flaw would probably entail an army of lawyers and many years of effort, amd unfortunately the offer you have on the tabl3 from Cotroen may be your best bet.
