ENGINE Temp fault

Hi guys i have a 2010 ds3 about a month ago ive been having the warning light Engine Temp Fault come on, the car tells me to Stop it shows the engine temp light will come on the dashboard and the coolant will go to red. I checked under the bonnet and the coolant is just below max so thats fine i believe. Within 2 mins the warning light goess off and coolant goes back to the middle on the dashboard . Does anyone know what to think of this??

yep. at a guess would replace the thermostat
