Citeron ds3 1.6 engine repair needed

my ds3 started to squeal while idling at the lights really loud and a fault came onto the display screen which said IIRC engine repaired needed - stop - also service light came on

I turned the car off and on and it has was ok to get home.
it sounded like a fan squealing .

does anyone has an idea what this could of been or what I should do to prevent any damage ?

Petrol or diesel? i.e Vti or e-hdi? Auxilary belt will have gone or be going. changed mine on the e-hdi today wasnt too bad
