  • Rear springs warranty?

My car just had winter check as part of service contract (3 year paid monthly). Found broken rear spring. Told £198 to replace, then told both rears would be replaced FREE because car under 6 years old (it's 13 plate) Any ideas why it's free? When I asked the dealer replied that some parts are 'covered'?

That's an awesome result!! Never heard of Citroën doing that before on a car of that age. Mines also a 13 plate, so will bear that in mind, if I ever need it.

When they said its covered? Does that mean it's covered by the service cover you pay monthly? Is there an element of extended warranty in there too perhaps? Either way, getting it sorted for free is good news.

As far as I'm aware the service scheme is purely to pay for: Next 3 years servicing, next 3 MOT's 3x winter checks and 3x summer checks. It is through EMAC.
I wondered if it's one of those unannounced recalls where a known problem is repaired within a time period if it arises. If the fault pops up outside the time period then you pay.
I had a similar thing on a Sony DVD player years ago. I took the player to an authorised repairer, they repaired it at a charge and told me that they had replaced a faulty circuit for free. Sony told them to change the circuit for free only if customers brought the player in, either for the circuit fault or for another repair, as it was known to them. Sneaky.
