outside temperature reading too low?

hi folks, the reading on the dashboard was fine until i decided ti power wash the engine bay to freshen it up, since doing this it now reads -3 instead of 9 degrees which is the current temp outside, is it possible the sensor has got wet from the washing the engine bay. also where is it located and has anybody else come across this issue before?

ive just read the sensor is inside the door mirror ffs so how could that go wrong lol?
