  • Tinny rattle under bonnet thp

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else with a thp is expierencing a rattle that sounds like a resonating heat shiel under the bonnet at certain rev speed? I really can't find where it's coming from, tried on numerous occasions to find what it is. Sounds like it is inside the turbo casing. It's just annoying when the window is down and would be nice to sort now that the exhaust and intake roar sounds so good..

Not noticed it - do you only hear it with the window down?

I drive with the windows closed - can't stand the awful turbulence & buffeting you get with the window open - and tbh the engine/exhaust don't sound anything special in the standard set-up.

I think it is just the noise of the Turbo spinning and stopping.

No - it isn't. I'm sure that this sound is generated by wastegate actuator but I don't know if it is normal. Has anyone has the same problem (sound) also?

hi i know this is a really old thread but its worth a shot as i have just bought a 155thp, its 4 weeks old and this rattle noise is doing my head in.
Citroen have just replaced the turbo but the noise is just the same, apparently they say its someting to do with the wastegate and i may have to wait until citroen find a fix and maybe do a recall. did you get any further with yours?

No tinny noise, I get a crackling which the turbo blowing down, a fizz noise sometimes which is apparently waste oil igniting from the PCV (doing the PCV delete) and the whine of the turbo spooling up and down but no tinny rattle.

                No way of recording it?

Yes I am- it's a 5 min job to do and a 5 min job to put back. My turbo is at a much higher pressure now and I don't want any crud going anywhere near my valves- preventative only

Oh right- was told not too bother unless I get trouble
How much was the PCV kit and where from?
The problem as I see it with all these reversible mods, reversed so the warranty can remain intact when taking the vehicle in, is if theres some sort of breakdown out on the road, then the breakdown services will take the vehicle straight to Citroen maintenance and wont have time to reverse the mod- IE PCV Delete, induction kit or anything else

I don't plan on breaking down by the side of the road- the same way you don't plan on having any crashes.

The THP200 engines have it as standard and my engine is basically running identical to those

                          Fair comment
Just looked on ebay- cant find anything Citroen related
Seems by what came up that PCV is just a breather emissions cap for ventialtion purposes?
That right? So assume deleting it is sealing the system- just my guess- dont bit me head off

Thats all it is- just seals the system. You remove the connecting pipe and seal them off the out take an intake. The parts are £2.34 each (£4.68 for the pair) at a Peugot dealership, mine had to order them so coming Tuesday.
