  • Flat battery now car will not start

Hi all and thanks for reading.
The wife arrived home yesterday to say there are lots of problems with her 2014 1.6 DS3. Diesel.
It turns out there are several electrical problems and i believe we have either a faulty battery or alternator.
Therefore i removed the battery. Not easy.
    Recharged the battery over night.
Now the car will not start at all. No crancking, no noise what so ever.
I also tried a jump start from my car but still nothing

Therefore is it possible i could have damaged something further by removing the battery? You do have to remove a few parts to get access to the battery.

    Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Club as its your first post: Are you in RAC/AA maybe call them out

Battery's are funny things, if there isn't enough juice all sorts can happen (My stop/start doesn't work cos not enough juice in it- I love it not working)

Need to check the output of the batterys and compare to what is needed by the vehicle. IE Google it

In regards to replacing a battery, that's one thing Ive not done on a DS3, so unfortunately cant help with what else has been disconnected, obvs make sure everything is reconnected

Thanks Chris, I will get a voltage reading tomorrow when i borrow a fluke for work. I am hoping it is just a defective battery. I cant understand why i cant jump start it though.

I've got a start/stop eHDi too and haven't had to change the battery either, but I don't think I'd tackle it myself, as I would be worried about doing more harm than good! There's so little room to manoeuvre down near the battery, I'm impressed you got it out!!

Keep us posted on how you get on and how long it takes you to get the battery back in again!! Good luck and oh... Welcome to the club

Figured it out. Fuse 8 in the fuse box under the bonet is for the starter control. It had blown. Tested it with the 20 amp fuse next to it and it started first time.
