  • THP post repair problems?

Got my DSport back last week after having timer chain etc. replaced. The problem first started in October - was "fixed" by resetting the EMS. Of course went again so dealer reset the EMS again, while waiting for the infamous special tools to arrive from Citroen - took a week. As said above, back now and seems to be running well.

Of those people who have had the timer chain replaced, has the problem recurred or have things been OK since?

Recurred on mine, resulting in replacement of the VVT unit & associated gubbins.

Now get occasional very brief hesitation, but otherwise it seems OK(ish).

Having said that, I got comprehensively out-dragged tonight on an uphill stretch on the A11 by a Fabia vRS, despite some very determined red-lining. I suspect that some of my 155 horses may have gone missing along the way.

Hi Clarky. Loss of power - first time with no warning light - could barely get to 50 in 3rd on a hill it would normally sail up in 4th or even 5th. Took it in and they reset EMS. A month or so later loss of power for 20 or seconds or so on a couple of occasions but it came back. Then a couple of months later loss of power again with EMS wwarning light (and I think it said a problem with the anti pollutant system).

I haven't seen the service manager since the repair as he went off on holiday so I don't know the full extent of what was done but when they took it in he said they would be replacing and recalibratimg the timer chain.

I'm just hoping to know if this really is a definitive fix from Citroen or whether there are likely to be repeat problems when it runs out of warrant next year.

            .
This sounds like the stage that I'm at - think I will ask to see the parts that are replaced when it goes in shortly - at least then we may get some idea of what's going on!

I wonder how much a warranty extension after the initial three years would be?
