  • 3 new Problems after service

Hi, this is my first post so I hope this is in the right place. I am looking for some guidance on 3 new faults that My DS3 has since I collected it from having had its service and MOT.

First fault I noticed was that when driving away from the garage, there was a lack of acceleration power, I litterally put my foot to the floor to get around a lorry and nothing was happening.

Second fault was when I tried the cruise control to see if it would react any differently and found that it was no longer working.

Third fault was the next morning when I started driving it, a message flashed up saying "faulty anti pollution".

I have taken it back to the garage twice now and they said it was the EGR valve which they replaced. However its made no difference.

    My car is a 2010 1.6 diesel DS3.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am taking the car back again soon.

Hi dean0 and welcome. IMO they need to take responsibility for it and fix it. It didn't do it before it had its MOT and service and now it is and it needs to keep going back til they do whats needed. Was this a Citroën garage?

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I have got it booked in again, but they are not being very helpful, I've told them I can’t take any more time off work (already used 2 and a half days holiday). They tell me the next available courtesy car they can give me is 24th (when I spoke to them on the 4th) so 20 days wait with a car that’s not easy to drive and no idea what’s wrong. It's not Citroën its Arnold Clark, I'm going to call again today and try and put some pressure on them.

I KNEW IT!! AC are just awful!! I hate them with a passion and the three branches that are near to me are excellent for sales, very very friendly, but absolutely awful for everything else. I bought a car from there once (not my DS3). Never ever EVER again!!!!

If you get nowhere, keeps tabs and receipts and reports of what they have done and checked. Then personally, I would take it to a Citroën / DS garage and ask them to diagnose the issue. You will have to pay for it and probs won't get it refunded from AC, but at least you will know what the issue is and then can tell them to fix it. Is it still under warranty with Awful Clark?

I will be keeping a record of everything. Unfortunately, it’s not under warranty. I'm just frustrated at this point by their unwillingness to even meet me halfway. If someone has made a mistake then I can forgive that, no one is perfect. But when it happened while in your care surely you should make every effort to sort it, if nothing else just to keep the customer happy. I'll update as I go on this.

First of all let me say that my car is the THP150, not a diesel.

However I've just had an MOT at an independent garage with a surprisingly similar result. With hindsight I think the car had probably not been running as smoothly as it once did but no warning lights were showing on the dash when I took it in.

It failed the test since the EML came on during it together with the message 'anti pollution system faulty'. I asked the mechanic to check the error codes and he came up with misfires and low fuel pressure but his diagnostic equipment couldn't isolate the fault(s). He did remove the HPFP to check for cracking as advised by some database or other but nothing was found so he reassembled it.

He started the car up and hey presto no EML so he passed it!

Even though I still had no EML several days after I checked the live data with my iCarsoft i970 scanner and could see that the fuel pressure was all over the place so decided to replace the HPFP. It now drives beautifully and has made me realise that it had been down on power for some time

How this relates to your issues I don't know, save to say that my car was faulty but it only became apparent at the MOT. It might be cheaper for you to buy an i970 - for about the same price as one diagnostic fee at my nearest Citroen dealer

                Good luck with sorting it

It's an old car and will require maintenance. They are are also cheap vehicles.

i have always maintained my vehicles myself. Ive a nice merc thats only done 157k and ive owned it fir nearly 7 years. Regular oil and filter changes, brakes and odd faulty parts replaced.

I've a DS3 at the moment which im repairing. It only had a dent on the wing but ive now stripped the front end off for photos and to check any other damage and to be fair they are well put together and many parts shared with other PSA cars. The DS3 i have is otherwise immaculate and goes well.

I wouldn't automatically blame a garage for any defects as have heard this many times.... such as persons commenting prior to dropping off a car it had this or that issue.... then expecting a perfect running car after what is essentially only oil and filter change.... and seem paranoid that the garage must have done them over.

I'd say in my experience to avoid Audi for cars with niggly faults
