  • Dash Cam Hardwiring Method

    Hi, new to the forum!

I recently bought a Nextbase dashcam with the hardwire kit. I’ve grounded it and routed my cables etc, and piggybacked the power supply off fuse number 8 which I believed to be an ignition switched fuse.

My problem is that even when the key is out of the ignition, the camera is still powered? I’ve tried numerous fuses but still the same problem. Does anyone have any experience of installing? Obviously my main worry is draining the car battery!

    Many thanks!

Hi , welcome to the club

Are you certain its not the camera internal battery powering it for a couple minutes after ignition switched off?

Maybe even have a look after 15 mins

It wont drain the battery that much for 15 mins or less

      Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I left it for about an hour and still seems to be powered by the car battery. I know this because I have the camera set to switch off automatically after 10 seconds of losing the 12V power feed from the DC input. I’m going to bring my multimeter home from work on Monday and test for an ignition fuse.

      Cheers
