Maybe not in the spirit of the site, but if I was to ditch my THP (due to the engine problems), What would anyone suggest as an alternative?

Im thinking Volvo C30, Honda Civic R, Astra GTC?

All have similar specs engine wise but none lack the style and features inside and out of the DS3 (In my opinion) Certainly not for the same price!

A 'friend' of mine suggested the C30, had snoop inside and didn't like it *yuck* I think though after you have looked at (not lived with) the interior - dash etc of the DS3, most other cars look very clunky and mono grey

I quite like the C30 inside... but lacks a seat!

Honda is awesome, but im in two minds because the new one is due out this year but I love the current ones.

I just feel like whatever I get will be a downgrade... and I cant afford to upgrade!

Not sure about where you are, but Honda's are really common here, 3 of my friends have one.

As many annoying things I have with my car, it is refreshing to know it looks nothing like the other cars out there, and nothing in its competitive range looks similar.

well i thought volvo's are for motorcycle killers and honda's av gone back towards the zimmer frame mob as the new civic is ghastly thats my opinion. but its really your decision on what you get

I have been through this pain of decidingwhat to get next, astra gtc drives great, but its an astra, volvo yuk as it has been put, Hyundai drives crap looks nice, honda boring not a great drive, swift sport fantastic little motor. Nothing to beat the DS3 and quite rightly as Zack said HDI, ive done over 25k in mine looks and drives like new still but am able to change for the new DS3 eHDI airdream Dsport , tried loads of others but nothing to match the DS3 for it uniqueness and alround ability etc.

Well I got rid of the THP and went for the E-Hdi dsport and I have to say I love! I don't miss the power too much if I'm honest, I thought I would because the THP was a quick car! The diesel has plenty of grunt tho it feels grate to drive! I'm personally just waiting for a remapp and I'll be more that happy with it :-)

I looked at the Veloster, great car for the money, but yes, I too would want the faster version. However as I couldn't wait that long I went to the opposite end of the spectrum completely!

The other one I also considered was the Honda CR-Z, however, the rear seats are a bit small and again, the faster Mugen version has yet to materialise.

What about the Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition?
Here in Holland about the same price (29.995 euro) as a fully loaded DS3 THP (28.495 euro) and about 5.000 euro less then the DS3R (34.995 euro)

Yes correct, but what I understood, it's a good one now!

I drove the MiTo but didn't like it. Didn't drove the Abarth, so can't give an answer on that one
There are more cars, but all from the VAG-group, so don't like them
