Clutch in or out

Just bought a ds3 66 plate was told i needed to put clutch in in order to start but it starts with the clutch out so a bit confused thanks

Its mainly in Europe where vehicles wont start without the clutch depressed- not so much here

Its just safety advice so you don't start the engine, and jump into the brick wall, or person, in front of you

Thank you i had a toyota before and that wouldnt start without the clutch in motor dealer said needed to have clutch in to start it but found out i didnt lol
