DS3 "Stop" light along with oil pressure warning

Bit of an odd one.

My girlfriends 16' plate DS3 (1.6 hdi) had a full service last Monday at our local garage, and up until today has been completely fine, including going on a 250 mile round trip over the weekend.

But today my girlfriend drove home from work and heard an audible beep sound accompanied with the 'Stop' light lit up and a message on the touch screen. This only stayed on for a split second and then went back off though so she couldn't get a chance to read the message.

I decided to take it for a quick drive to see if it did it again and it did, once again for a second the same light and message appeared and I managed to see the message said something about oil pressure.

A slight but noticable 'burning' smell also seems to happen when getting out of the car after this happening.

I shall be calling up the garage who serviced it tomorrow morning but I'm wondering if anybody could possibly shed any light on what the cause might actually be, given that it's very recently been serviced and it has taken up till today for this to start happening?

It seems like way too much of a coincidence if it isn't something the garage did or didn't do right from the service last week.

Check ok filter, gasket on the new oilfilter can be fitted wrong that may cause oil pressure fault

a code reader plugged into the OBD port next to the glovebox should bring up any fault code- thatd help

I decided to go back out and check the oil level and according to the dip stick it's virtually empty, with only traces of oil on it when cleaned.

Something tells me the garage who did the service last week hasn't tightened something up correctly, causing it to leak out?

Not very happy, and am just hoping it hasn't done any damage to the engine.

What I also find strange though is if the oil is that low why the car hasn't or didn't come up with any warning prior to today, and even then only flashing up for a second.

if its no oil registering on dipstick- don't drive it until some is in

If its leaked, there will be some splattered over the engine somewhere, or at least put some cardboard under the engine overnight to see if theres any on it, in morning

Assuming they put the sump plug back in- mustav done or your engine would've seized by now

Serious problem if dealer just serviced it- proving there negligence wont be easy

It wasn't a Citroen garage who serviced it, but one that I've not had trouble with in the past so had enough trust in them to not think they'd mess up with anything.

Luckily the garage in question is literally a 2 minute walk from home, but no, obviously even being close I won't be moving it anywhere until oil has been added now.

I plan to call the garage tomorrow morning and I'm hoping that as we're very close they'll come and add oil and take it in to look at it properly.

I'm aware garages can be a pain when it comes to 'owning up fault' however I can't see who or what they'd try and blame this on other than themselves or the parts they've used given it was only 8 days ago this was touched by them which included them doing an oil and filter change, and the car has never had any problems like this beforehand.

If it just wasn't the right amount would the dipstick still show virtually nothing? Serious question as I'll be honest I'm not sure.

As I say the other thing I found weird is the car has shown no warning at all and I find that a bit worrying in itself given in the 8 days it's done a few hundred miles. My Peugeot 308 has a 'Oil level OK' message that shows every time you switch it on, but I don't see the DS3 reporting any message such as that so I'm guessing it doesn't know?

most cars oil warning lights only come on when oil is really very low

My 2012 1.6 VTi gave me "Top Up Oil" messages a couple of times. Not a warning light, an information message on the monochrome screen.
Not had anything on my current THP, yet, but would assume it would do the same on the touchsceen.

I just thought I'd post an update on what happened.

Luckily, the garage who serviced it were very helpful and came over to us to top it up with oil, and then took it to their garage.

They had it for most of the day and said the cause of the leak was due to the incorrect fuel filter being put on in the service, causing it to slowly come out.

They apologized a few times and put a new (and hopefully correct) filter on, and so far all seems okay. I've been checking the level on a daily basis since and it seems to be fine.

Awful mistake to make from a professional body imo

Wasn't there any trace of the oil seeping out under the car, or over the engine?
