  • Sent hundreds ona woowing noice that the garage still not fixed..

Hi Guys and gals, I hope someone can help me, or maybe someone has had a simular noise in there DS3.

So when I drive along I hear a rotary noice, almost a slight grind, but hard to tell due to tyre noise, it is deffinently metal to metal and seems to go to the speed of the car. I have had it in the garage 3 times. The first time he said it was the front wheel bearings, so he replaced those and a wishbone and give me two new tyres for the grand some of 460, thought my tryes where getting close to the wire lol...but thaat dod not solve the issue so 2 days later I took it back and we went for a spin and again the noise was there again, thought we thought it was coming from the back wheel...so again check for bearings but changed the brake caliper and new discs...thought everything was sorted as we thought the disc edge was rubbing against 2 thin piece of metal in the caliper as is was worn now... took it for a test around the local estate...seem it has gone...another 120 for that...I then took it another garage to get my wheel realined , so i ask the guy to take for a spin and again he her the noise but thought it was coming from the front...so driving home today and again hear the noice almost like a bearing...but not 100 percent...now i have had this noice for almost 3-4 weeks and i am sure I am going to get a nasty suprise soon...oh and the garage said that i have a high pitchs noise coming from the engin too when i change gear and or driveing which could mean the diff is going...WTF...so I am alll ears on suggestions I am putting this in to another garage locally to see what he come up with, because this is now starting to make me nervous especially when i have my kids in the car...

I would've said wheel bearings, or maybe brake discs rubbing on the calipers. Does your DS3 get used daily? Have you tried some hard breaking to see if it quietens it?

The front wheel bearing have been changed and one front hub, a wishbone on the passenger side front, a new caliper and brake pads on the back. The drive shaft on both side have been tested( when i mean tested I am assuming they have testing by rock back and forth and checking the boot for any leaks). The back wheels have no playat all, so i have bought a cheap go pro type cam to strap it underneath to figure out the the hell is going on, it deffinatly sound bearing, but were? the car is a 2012 Ehdi 1.6 and done 88,000, I do hear the time belt start to squeel too thought that not too much of an issue right now. SO to confirm.. the noise builds up as you start to drive, once you hit a continuous 45 + mile per hour the noise goes in the name notion as the car, you go fastrer the noise go faster, its been to 3 garages and all say tyre noise and if i hear another garage say it is tyre noise...grr..why is it so hard to find a really good garage these days...Ive probs missed something of this...but i am now begining to thing of selling the car, costing too mich on repairs now..

Have to say I'm baffled too. You have had everything done already that I can think of what could be causing it.

I know this sounds daft, but what if you change all the tyres round? Does the noise come from a different area? Is it an alloy wheel issue?

Not daft at all, I thought that I had a rear wheel bearing failure on my old C2 until it had new tyres fitted - the noise went away.

Similarly the DS is far noisier on the summer tyres than the winter tyres, which will be going on shortly

Update on my DS3 Saga... on to date I have replaced the passenger wishbone, the wheel bearings both sides x 2 (long story). Passenger side wheel hub. A drivers side flange, new discs and pads. new driverside brake caliper, 4 new tyres reblanced and realignment from the hunter system and I still get a pul to the left and my car shakes. the only thing I can thing of is the drive shaft....totally lost now...

It could be an egg in one of your tyres, recently while getting my front tyres changed I asked if he could check the bearings as there was a noise, the mechanic said there won't be any noise now you've changed that tyre with the egg in....... He was right.... Noise stopped from then on
