Oil and DS3 Cabrio

Hi, I have a DS3 cabrio 2013, petrol, and over the last 8 months or so it has been consuming a lot of oil. I have had to top up 3 times now as the dashboard Oil top up message came on.

Topped up gradually last night, dipstick check then turned on to see if message still coming on, several times.
Cant find anywhere what the oil capacity is either.

Ended up putting full 5litres halfords recomended oil in, and oil message was still on.

I am now unsure if I have put too much in and if any consequences...!

Unsure about even driving the car now, could anyone help what to do next, (and Im on my own)?
Citroen dealer around 5 miles away open today, local garage about 10 miles, open tomorrow.

I'm not technical, and this was the first time I topped up by myself (hindsight is wonderful isnt it!),
(Ive been reading round and next time I will top up half the bottle or less, leave it longer, etc).

After topping oil up after low oil warning appears the warning still stays on as it takes a good 24 hours to register and low oil warning to go off.
Too much oil is bad for engine so try and check oil level on level ground and when engine cold.

Thanks for your reply.

After leaving overnight, the oil level is way above the red part on the dipstick, so Im not going to move it.

Ive rang Halfords, Kwikfit, mobile mech, all say don t move it, breakdown does not cover home so I think I'll get onto a garage tomorrow morning.

You can get a suction pump from machine mart for removing oil thro dipstick . I have one and use it for changing oil in between services.

Unsure about effect on engine though, drove about 3 miles after
