  • DS3 thp 156 - Turbo cuts at 5100 rpm

I've been to dyno...just said it would be nice to have a stage2 installed...but...

So far installed on car (120k km on clock):
    - FMIC
    - Forged DV
    - alloy pipes
    - 200cell kat + 63mm exhaust

Guy that does remapping, told me it can not be done, that something is wrong with the car.
Power graph shows only 140ps instead of 156.
Also turbo graph clearly shows that turbo cuts of at 5100 rpm.

He managed to install a stage2 map, but with this map only 155ps was achieved . Again turbo cuts at 5.100 rpm

So went back to stock map, now i have some homework to do.

    Done checking:
    - system holds pressure 2BAR with NO leaking.
    - turbo seems to be ok (no noise,..) car runs ok, just loss of power at high rpm

    Check to be done:
    - phase
    - chain stretched ?(changed 10k km ago)
    - carbonization (done blasting 10k km ago)
    - turbo el. valve
    - HPFP
    - LPFP
    ..

    than i'm out of ideas.

So have anyone here had similar problems? What else from above checklist can i check?

Another hard thing to find is a decent remap garage. I'm from Slovenia and i guess here we don't have alot of DS3 specialist

Is there anyone near (Croatia, austria, italy,..)

    Thaks for any suggestion.

Will post pics soon, now i get error on uploading

Have you checked the ECU via OBD for fault codes? What came up?

        Yes, two errors:

        - p0420
        -p0139

Both of them due to 200cell kat installed. or Am I wrong?

          Hi djsly,

Can i ask you what kind of 200 cell cat you've installed on your DS3?

some sportscats have caused lots issues on the DS3- this may be one of the reasons to your problems

Hope it wasn't one of those ebay things (Scorpion exhausts used to bring faults up and dodgy running

Start with getting those fault issues resolved before you do anything else- it could be causing fuelling issues, sensor problems etc etc

              thank you guys for ideas...

yes i got it from ebay uk-performance.
              this one:
              https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200CPI-ST...72.m2749.l2649

would it be any different if I'd just decat it ?

I'd still probably get p0420 and p0139 codes. So i'm not sure that's the issue here, but I sure could be wrong. I'm just not in the mood to change the cat yet...

Today i did some more log collecting.

everything but the boost pressure seems to be ok.
              fuel ok,
              mixture ok
              ignition ok
              ...

              boost at 5.100 rpm:
              desired pressure from computer: 0,45bar
              Actual pressure 0,2 bar

              at 6.000 rpm
              desired pressure from computer: 0,45bar
              Actual pressure 0,3 bar

              at revlimit:
              desired pressure from computer: 0,40bar
              Actual pressure 0,35 bar

So it drops for a while...then slowly rising but does not get to desired value . Should not even drop by that much!

While testing i managed to get one more fault: p0140 (Downstream oxygen sensor signal fault. Coherence). Is that before cat or after cat sensor?

              sure will keep you posted...

Sensor 2 is after the catalytic converter, i have seen that 200 cell dp doesn't seem very reliable either(poor quality). The Milltek Sport DP 200 Cell shows no engine light but its quite an investment. I am currently running a Scorpion Decat Downpipe. I do also have a tip on changing your Downpipe, try to twist the DP instead of removing the lower heatshield.

That's your problem- the sportcat from EBAY (Not approved)

My Sportscat cost around £450 installed

Pay your money- take your choice, but get a proper one put in

decat will bring light up obviously- or why would anyone bother having a Cat?

So i guess i'll be going back to oem cat + exhaust, just to rule out the cat issue.

                    Thanky for the tip DS3-NL

Chris: your DP did not show any errors? which one did you install? 450 seems like a reasonable price...

decat sure bring lights, I'm just not sure that any kind of 200cel cat or decat results an issue like I have (turbo cuts at 5.1k rpm). But to be sure i'll put an oem exhaust system and test it.

                      Hi djsly

The downpipe will fall down to the bottom once you try to twist it around, save's you alot of time without having to remove the lower heatshield. I hope your problem gets solved with going back to stock, just to sort out the catalytic converter problem, just like Chris_Blue said get a proper downpipe which has a good quality catalytic converter.

I went to Jamie at SPTuning and think it was an HJC catalytic converter and downpipe- back in 2013 though, price may have changed

Nope- no lights, never any issues and 8BHP added :-)

This one requires ECU remapping to get rid of light

Did it change to like it suppose to be after you went back to oem cat?

No, unfortunately it did'nt. after OEM cat problem still there .

I've changed the diverter valve. By the feeling, it's better. There is no physical feeling of turbo cut off. So on 15.11 i've scheduled dyno day to test it.

all i'v got is torque pro app, but don't know if there is any useful exportable data from that to analyze the boost graph . In real time (on app) i can not see the boost cut off...

will let you know next Friday.

                              PS: pozdrav u ZG
