  • Engine temp fault

Hi everyone. I was driving to work yesterday when I had a fault come up. Engine temperature fault stop car. Now iv had my ds3 for 3 years now and temp gage has not worked right for about 2 years but the car only goes a few miles down the road on a Monday and then back home on Friday where it sits on the drive till Monday again. Anyways iv seen on here that it's a common fault. Now my question is. Is it still under warranty or am I way past that stage now. Its a 120vti 14 plate. Thank you.

Has your temperature needle been sitting in the middle or has it not been going past quarter way?
When you got that STOP message, did the temperature needle start moving to max and then about quarter way?

Temp needle don't move. Sometimes it will go up a bit but then straight back down. Don't think it's ever gone past half way since iv had it.

It should point down, at the 6'o'clock position once the engine has been on for a bit and the temperature is at its optimum. If it's not moved then you def need it replaced. I got our one changed a few weeks back; the temperature sensor is attached to a large housing unit which it cannot be removed from, so that will need replacing too. However, when it does get changed they'll be seperate parts that connect to each other so in the unlikely event the temp seensor goes again, you can just replace that and not the housing unit again.

Depending on where you , the garage etc, price will vary, mine cost £180 supplied and fitted.
