  • Timing belt jumped - Citroen warranty?

My car went into my local Citroen dealership with an engine fault, they had it for a number of weeks before finding out that the timing belt had jumped a tooth. The manager at the garage told me they should be able to get it all done for free as the car wasn't even half way towards the scheduled replacement date (on either mileage or age).

A few days later I was told Citroen UK had agreed to pay a rather measley £70 towards the cost of repairing it (even the manager was a bit shocked by this) and I'd have to fork up the rest which came to just shy of £700 including the diagnostic.

I know with the whole rust under the wing mirror issue, you have to be kind of persistent in getting Citroen to accept responsibility. Do you think it's worth contacting Citroen to see if they can cough up some more money? My car was first registered in April 2015 and has 56K on the clock. It's the 1.6 BlueHDi so I believe the timing belt is due at 140K or 10 years
