  • DS3 1.6 THP - Turbo Upgrade

    Hello everyone,

I took apart most of my engine last week for repairs and saw that my turbo is not looking well, movement in the actuator and some oil residue on the cold side of the turbo which lets me think that the seals are failing inside the turbo. Now i am looking for a new turbo i might aswell look for a bigger one since im planning to completely rebuild the engine with forged internals etc. I've found some bigger turbo upgrades which are bolt on like Mambatek(GTX 001-112), Frankenturbo(F21P) & Borg Warner (DS3 Racing Turbo 5303 988 0426). Does anybody maybe knows the compressor wheel size and turbine wheel size from the DS3 racing turbo?

Turbo upgrade update - found a direct bolt on turbocharger (42mm compressor wheel) from JMTC Peformance, the owner Arric helps out great with any questions about their turbo's. So if anyone is looking for a direct bolt on turbo which can make great power this turbo: https://jmtcperformance.com/super-42-turbocharger/ is the way to go. I will be posting pictures of the turbo build once i got every part that i need

          - Update

Hi everyone, after some time of being absent on the forum im hoping to be active again, a few weeks ago i continued with the DS3 Big Turbo project. The car finally got its tune last Saturday and is pushing about 263.4 HP, thats around 223 HP to the wheels !

The car is building up boost to 1.25 Bar since i am using stock internals, hoping to buy a salvaged engine soon and completely strip it to rebuild that engine with forged internals.

The upgrade's the car has gotten since my last post is:

          - A full custom build 3" stainless steel exhaust system all the way from the turbo to the back that includes a 3" downpipe(yes it is possible to fit a 3" downpipe )
