  • Help! P0299 and engine coolant loss

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light.

recently had a new engine due to pistons rings going.

since having new engine fitted I’m now suffering turbo loss p0299 code. Also engine coolant now seems to magically disappear.

    any help is appreciated.

    cheers

Can you not go back to who fitted the engine?

Long story, been ongoing a while now they’re refusing to take responsibility as they fitted the engine and when so called tested everything ok. Even though I had code p0299 come up the next day. I just need the car sorting now these guys are refusing to answer calls. Thought I’d put something on here to see if anyone had any ideas.

Have you looked at the Turbo, and all pipes leading to and from?

        Wastegate can be problematic

Ive had my Turbo disappear b4 for a few days, then just come back on!!!

Have you checked the pipes for oil? That would tell you trouble is afoot

            Hey Cheshirelad35 ,

The P0299 fault code could be a loose wastegate rod which is beginning to fail so the internal wastegate doesn't seal properly and will cause boost problems. this can be solved by tightening the nuts on the rod or by buying a complete new turbine housing. For the coolant issue it might be a failing head gasket, i dont know what the mileage of the engine is when they replaced it?

Experiencing some boost issues at the moment with my car, since i went for a much bigger turbo upgrade have to adjust my wg actuator manually for the bigger boost pressure. Never set a pre-load on the wg rod which will cause engine failure.
