  • Start and Stop newbie is this normal?

Hi folks, just got my 2016 DS3 PureTech with the 6-speed automatic transmission and this is my first car with the start and stop feature so maybe what I describe below is normal?.

When I come to a full stop and the green eco icon comes on in the dash and the car engine turns off, maybe 4 times over the past 2 days this happens, its as if someone tugged at the steering wheel and pulled it an inch or so with a sharp quick motion, I can feel the tug on my hands as I hold the wheel. This sharp movement in the steering wheel happens just as the engine turns off. When I press the accelerator again everything works as normal. Any ideas if this is normal or something I should ask the garage to look at?

Does manually deactivating the stop and start cause any long-term damage or issues. For the low annual miles, we do 3/4000 the fuel savings are not a concern for us.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.....

All is normal with your car. Stop start stops the engine and also stops the power to the steering so sometimes if there is a little turn effort on the wheel the lack of power will pull it slightly back to normal position with no load. 2ndly Pushing the ECO button on the right will diable stop start with no issues for that trip. Next trip you will have to do it again as it resets for each trip.
My wife has the same age and model car as you with the Cabrio option - brilliant little car and one of the best autos around

Thanks, Ian, I appreciate the info and your explanation makes sense. So far we are very happy with the car, It's old hat I'm sure for most of you but the automatic gearbox is great I'm sorry I waited so long to try one out.
