Ok there has been a recall on the turbo version of these engines made between 2014 - 2017 which my wifes car has had at a main dealer. Advice following the recall is that we should change the cambelt at 62,500 miles or 6 years whichever comes first.
Yesterday my wifes car had its cambelt changed by our local Citroen Independant dealer as although it had only done 19,000 miles it was now 6 years old. After its removal I was shown the belt. It had gone hard and was cracking between the teeth and was in a crazed pattern on the back of the belt. Bits of rubber could be easily removed with a thumbnail.
Obviously the recall does not cure the issue and I would urge anyone to consider early belt replacement.
